Our porous, 3D printed scaffolds allow researchers to perform their in vitro experiments in a physiologically relevant context. The P3D Scaffolds yield predictive models of human biology by establishing physiological cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions. Thereby, we aim to help researchers accelerate the development of new drugs and useful disease models and reduce costs.
Particle3D is developing P3D Bone PSI; a Patient Specific Implant that remodels into real living bone. Made from 3D printed tricalcium phosphate, the individualized implant will deliver a clinically relevant bone porosity and tailored morphology to match patient needs. The result is a more natural implant in terms of both material, shape, and structure that enables a full restoration of the functionality and appearance of facial bones.
Particle3D’s unique technology offers a low cost solution for creating complex, 3D printed ceramics that are both heat and corrosion resistant. The technology can be used with many materials and in many industries (e.g. aerospace, automotive, agriculture & chemical). P3D printing enables businesses across various sectors to enhance their product development and manufacturing while reducing costs.
Particle3D is founded on the invention Feedstock for 3D Printing and Uses Thereof and studies commenced in 2015 by the three founders: Casper Slots, Martin Bonde Jensen, and Morten Østergaard Andersen.
Their specific goal was to create a 3D printed implant solution for replacing destroyed or surgically removed bones — a solution far better than existing practices in terms of customization, precision, and healing.
Bone reconstruction is a surgery performed millions of times each year, from congenital bone defects to victims of accidents, and sufferers of diseases like cancer. Today, these patients receive a harvested bone piece or live with titanium in their body for the rest of their lives.
Particle3D has developed a novel technology to reconstruct the patient’s exact anatomy with 3D printed, patient specific implants with natural bone porosity. The implants are made from natural biomaterials which degrade over time and remodel into real living bone tissue.
Our implants can be designed to deliver additives, including growth factors, antibiotics, and chemotherapy, which can be released over a controlled period of time. These eluting properties open new options for treatment of bone defects.
