The problem
Bone reconstructions are performed more than 4.5 million times each year, from congenital bone defects to victims of accidents, and sufferers of diseases. Today, implant solutions are either made of materials that are foreign to the human body or are imperfectly tailored to the patient's needs.
The solution
Ossiform has developed a solution to reconstruct the patient’s anatomy with resorbable, patient matched implants with a bone-like porosity. The implants are made from the biomaterial, TCP, which resorbs over time and remodels into real living bone. An optimized bone remodeling rate is ensured through 3D printing.
The future
The bone printing technology is highly scalable for hospitals worldwide and aims to make high-quality bone replacements accessible and affordable. Furthermore, it allows for the development of pharmaceutical and growth factor releasing bone implants with a controlled and prolonged release.
